Papaya Salad – Step By Step Instructions

The papaya salad is one of the best known and most popular Thai dishes. It is important in the production process to mix the ingredients together again and again so that the different components are evenly connected.

Ingredients For 2-3 People

1 green papaya approx. 500g

1 carrot

2 cloves of garlic

2 chili peppers

2 limes (untreated)

50 g peanuts

6-8 cherry tomatoes

3 tablespoons fish sauce

1 tablespoon palm sugar or brown sugar

Green Papaya Salad Recipe

This is a raw food salad, even the beans are not cooked. The ingredients are squeezed in a mortar or bowl to develop the aromas. Pound the peanuts in the mortar and set aside.

Papaya Salad

Cut the papaya lengthwise and dispose of the small white kernels. Depending on size, the whole papaya is too much for two people; then just take a big piece. Peel papaya and carrot, then cut into thin strips with the cutter.

Firmly press the garlic with the back of the knife, then peel. Wash tomatoes and halve. Wash the chili peppers, remove the stem ends and cut into strips. Wash the beans and cut them into 3-4 cm pieces. Put everything in a large bowl and press with the mortar flail.

Wash limes and quarter. Squeeze lime juice into the bowl and add the crushed lime quarters. Also, add the fish sauce and the palm sugar. Add the papaya strips and carrot strips to the bowl and mix well. If possible, let it rest for 30 min. Garnish with peanuts and serve. When eating makes sure that you do not eat the lime quarters, but probably also the cloves of garlic.
